IACS – Aragon Health Sciences Institute

The Aragon Health Sciences Institute (IACS) is the centre responsible for research and knowledge management in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the public Aragon Health System. The Institute organices its activity in two areas: research and knowledge.

In the research area, the Institute offers its resources to researchers, health professionals, public and private institutions that want to develop research projects in Biomedicine and Health Sciences.

Its main areas of work, with highly qualified personnel, are:

• Basic research
• Clinical applied research
• Public health research

More than 300 researchers work in the Institute, professionals from the Aragon Health System. For a better performance of its activity the Institute holds modern laboratories and facilities for basic and applied research as well as counting with the research capacity installed in the region hospitals and other centres belonging to the regional government.

In the knowledge area, the Institute is responsible of knowledge management in the regional health system, offering services of assessment and development of health care professional competences

The IACS has the ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate. It has been awarded with the Innovation Research Management National Prize organised by the Health National School – Carlos III Health Institute, Bearing Point and Diario Médico.
To summarize all the above it is worth highlighting that our purpose is to facilitate the effective innovation of the health services through knowledge management.
