University of Zaragoza

The University of Zaragoza is a public higher education and research institution in the service of society, and combining a tradition of over 500 years of history with a constantly updated teaching approach. Its objective is to create and transfer knowledge.

The University’s research work has increased significantly in recent years, giving it national and international recognition. It is the 8th Spanish university in terms of scientific and academic production, according to the prestigious Academic Ranking of World Universities, produced by the Jiao Tong University in Shanghai.

Actually the University of Zaragoza has 3.992 Teaching and research staff members (94% from the I+D+i members in Aragón) distributed on 15 institutes and researcher centers, 16 Research support services, 210 Research groups and 53 Institutional and company chairs.

Cooperation with enterprises and organizations for the development of innovative projects is one of our main challenges and with the aid of the OTRI services (www.unizar..es/otri ) maintains relationships with 8305 companies.

In 2011, the total amount received for research amounted 45 million Euros.

The University of Zaragoza is generalist and offers courses in all areas: Arts and Humanities, Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Law and Engineering and Architecture.
