Certest Biotech

Certest Biotec is a biotechnology company founded in 2002 mainly focused on the development, manufacturing and commercialization of in vitro diagnostic solutions for human use. The company is leader in the Spanish IVD market and a reference at the European level. Its last business unit, Certest Pharma, is dedicated to building a platform for the development of RNA vaccines and oligotherapeutics.

Nowadays, the company employs over 300 people, 30 % of whom are involved in research activities, demonstrating our innovative character and strong commitment to R&D.

Certest is located in San Mateo de Gállego (Zaragoza) with more than 10,000 m2 of facilities. The expansion process of the company is in progress and new facilities are under construction, after which it will become one of the largest areas in Spain dedicated to biotechnology, with more than 26,000 m2 in 2024. Our facilities are equipped with cutting edge laboratories and equipment as well as large manufacturing capacity which allow us to produce 3.5 and 6 million tests in immunodiagnostics and molecular diagnostics, respectively.

The company specializes in the manufacture of diagnostic tests for different immunodiagnostic techniques (rapid tests, turbidimetry, chemiluminescence) and molecular diagnosis by qPCR (Viasure®). Certest also produces high-quality reagents such as recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies and oligonucleotides which are used for our own diagnostic tests or for commercialization to third parties.

Regarding mRNA and oligotherapeutic platform, Certest Pharma focus on seeking improved formulations to enhance delivery of substance drug through lipid nanoparticles. In that sense, the company is specialized in the development of raw materials, amongst which lipids and more specifically, ionizable lipids, are one of the leading products.

The company´s quality is certified with ISO 13485 management system and the Medical Device Single Audit Program (MDSAP) to comply with regulations in several non-EU countries. The company has an extended international track record and our products are commercialized in more than 120 countries.

Certest has achieved several awards, including the Flexible Company Award 2019, from the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Welfare; the RSA Award 2020, awarded by the IAF; the National Innovation Award 2021, granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation; and the “Aragón Investiga” 2021 award, from the Government of Aragon.
